What’s covered with healthchoice private health insurance?

Making sure you’re well looked after

HealthChoice private healthcare gives you the freedom to choose how you’d like to receive your treatment. You can choose to have your treatment with BMI Healthcare, another private hospital or with the NHS. What’s more with HealthChoice, you can choose to have your diagnosis privately but opt for NHS treatment and we’ll pay you the full cash benefit applicable to your procedure – it’s up to you. You also have access to HealthLine our 24/7 medical helpline.

If you opt to have your treatment at one of our BMI Healthcare hospitals, you will be covered for all costs – including complications that require you to stay in hospital for up to 30 days. We will pay all medical bills direct to the hospital, leaving you able to concentrate on what’s most important: your health.

Please note that if you have to stay longer, or have reached the benefit limit for that procedure, you will have to pay any charges for any additional treatment. Or alternatively, we will arrange for you to be transferred to an NHS hospital. We will let you know before you incur any costs.

Out of area travel costs to a BMI Healthcare hospital for a covered surgical procedure		Up to £100 per claim

*Some diagnostic tests have a specific benefit payable as per our list of procedures. These are identified by the unique CCSD codes.

Please note benefits are payable after the 90 day waiting period.

It is also worth noting what we do not cover:

Treatment following emergency hospital admissions.
Treatment carried out during a diagnostic consultation.
Chemotherapy, radiotherapy or cryotherapy.
Any AIDS related conditions.
Diagnosis or treatment for mental or psychiatric conditions.
Anything other than £50 per night worth of hospital charges within 90 days immediately following your start date.
Conditions diagnosed in the two years prior to the policy being taken out.
